Accessible Seating

Britt offers two ADA-accessible seating areas on the hill. Both are most easily accessed via Gate 2, where our patron drop-off area is located.

  • The Lower ADA seating area is close to the stage and the ADA restrooms. Due to its location next to the speakers, this seating area is louder than the upper ADA seating.
  • The Upper ADA seating is balcony-level seating with unobstructed views, stationed in the center of Section A. This seating is accessed via a long switchback ramp and is farther from the ADA restrooms.
  • Seating in both areas is quite limited. We ask that patrons needing accessible seating are joined by one companion. Britt will accommodate up to three companions if space is available.
  • If you use a mobility device (wheelchairs, scooters or walkers), we highly recommend calling the box office or booking your accessible seating in the appropriate areas online. Britt’s reserved seating has pathways with stairs, and the upper lawn is a grass hill with a steep, graded walkway.

Parking and Drop off

  • Directly in front of the Britt pavilion is a small lot with 8 ADA spaces available. These must be reserved in advance and are offered via the Box Office on a first come, first served basis. We recommend calling the Box Office as soon as you purchase your ticket to request a parking space. Patrons must have a current state-issued accessible parking placard. We recommend dropping off patrons with wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility assistive devices at the Gate 2 Drop-off point prior to parking.
  • For all patrons, Britt provides a Drop-off point at Gate 2 off Fir Street. The Drop-off opens one hour before gates open (usually 4pm) and closes when the music begins. The Drop-off reopens at the end of the show for pickups.
  • When you pull into the Drop-off turnaround, please wait until you reach the staffed Drop-off point before exiting the car. This keeps the Drop-off safe for everyone and prevents accidents.
  • YOU MUST DROP PATRONS OFF AT THE APPROVED DROP-OFF POINT. Do not drop patrons off directly in front of the pavilion on First Street or on the corner of First and Fir.

Services for deaf or hard of hearing patrons

  • Assistive Listening at Performances: Britt patrons can access live concert audio through our Listen Technologies system anywhere on the Britt grounds. The system allows you to receive audio straight from the soundboard through an app on your smartphone and directly to your hearing aids, headphones, or earbuds. For patrons with T-coil hearing aids, visit the on-site Box Office to check out a receiver. Download the Listen Everywhere app to your smartphone, then connect to our free Wifi Network – you must be connected to listen in.

    • Link to listen system apps
    • The Listen system is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provides low latency, high quality audio to our patrons who need listening assistance.
  • Britt offers free sign language interpreters upon request and availability. To request sign language services, please call the Box Office as early as possible – we recommend 3 weeks in advance. Britt will contract a local interpreter and will confirm their availability with you. Interpreters are stationed next to the stage in our lower level ADA seating area.

Services for Blind and Low-vision Patrons

Britt’s website has been built to be optimized by screen readers, using semantic html. The site was built to maximize color contrast between background and text, and fonts were selected to meet accessibility standards. The site is also responsive and zoom-friendly so that pages can be enlarged for readability.

Recommendations for Patrons with Sensory Processing Needs

Although our amphitheater is more spacious and intimate than most, Britt can be loud, bright, and crowded. For patrons with autism or other sensory processing needs, we recommend the following:

  • Lawn seating offers a bit more space from crowds, and the ability to move around.
  • Britt sells both in-ear and over-ear hearing protection at the gift booth. For patrons who would like to block the noise but hear the music clearly, we recommend downloading the Listen Everywhere app, using earbuds to hear the music, and fitting over-ear hearing protection on top.
  • Britt artists generally bring their own lighting designers to performances. While we aim to provide advanced warning of strobe effects, we often don’t know what the lighting team plans until night of show.
  • Our Britt Kids Concerts and Workshops offer a variety of types of performances and activities. Some performances are louder and more active than others, but our venues offer plenty of space and options to enjoy the performance from off to the side or at the back. Our Workshop registration pages include information to help parents of children with sensory processing or mobility needs know what to expect for individual events.

Service Animals

  • Britt allows service animals in the venue. A service animal is defined as an animal that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed must be directly related to the person’s disability. The owner may be asked what service the animal performs. The animal must be properly controlled at all times; owners may be asked to remove animals that are disruptive, aggressive or out of control. Animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered unless these devices interfere with the animal’s work or the owner’s disability prevents using these devices. Service animals are subject to Jackson County vaccination and licensing requirements. Britt does not admit animals that are for emotional support or comfort; these animals are not recognized as service animals by the ADA.

Other Things to know

  • First aid volunteers are available at every show.
  • Britt is continually working to improve its accessibility. Currently, the artist merchandise booth, the hospitality deck, and our food and drink concessions are not wheelchair accessible due to concrete stair placement and steep grades. We apologize for the inconvenience and are currently working on solutions. If you need something from one of these areas and do not have a companion to help you, please flag down one of our Event Staff for assistance.
